Golf
A Tradition of Quality Sacramento’s Del Paso Country Club has long been recognized as one of the finest golf courses in northern California. The course was designed initially by John Black and opened in 1916. About the time that grass was first planted on the fairways (1922), Herb Fowler was brought in to make Del Paso a true test of golf. The new design stood up to the best players - men, women, amateur and professional - for more than 75 years. In the early 2000s, with a blend of good timing, amazing luck and strong leadership, Kyle Phillips was hired to completely redesign the golf course. The transformation yielded a truly modern course that led to the 2015 U.S. Senior Open, the fifth USGA championship tournament hosted at Del Paso. Members and guests experience the consistently high quality of Del Paso’s golf culture throughout the year. Weekly, monthly and annual golf events satisfy the competitive and social aspirations of men, women, young adults and juniors. The Magpie, Member-Member, Club Championship, and Del Paso Foundation are but a handful of “home” tournaments. Community-sponsored events have raised millions of dollars and awareness in local support for social, health and educational programs.
Hospitality
A Tradition of Celebrating Del Paso has welcomed generations of Sacramentans since its inception in 1916. Many have considered the Club their “second home”, a place where lasting friendships and social bonds are formed. Squid Squad, Junior Golf Camp, Fitness Programs, Movie Nights and special events continue to bring families and friends together. The annual Easter Brunch, Independence Day Celebration, Crab Feed, Brunch with Santa, Caroling Dinner, Wine Dinner and Wine Expo create memories that last a lifetime. Families, friends and acquaintances enjoy a beautiful setting with exceptional fine dining for weddings, showers, memorials and milestone celebrations as well as a popular dance venue.
Community Spirit
A Tradition of Spirit Del Pasoans are proud of their club history and its connection to the community. It has been a vital part of Sacramento’s economic and cultural growth for more than 100 years. Service and social organizations appreciate the Club as a venue for monthly business meetings and annual conferences. Each year, the Del Paso Foundation raises thousands of dollars for college scholarships for local youths who are involved in the regional golf industry. Del Paso was born a golf course but continues to be something more…a vital part of lives and legacies shared with all who experience the Del Paso spirit.
